Welcome !
The "Describing tasks and/or activity in ergonomics" survey aims to improve our knowledge of working practices of ergonomists or human factors experts, and particularly, why they do (or do not) describe operators/users tasks in a model (a task model).
This survey follows a research carried out at the ergonomic lab of Paris Descartes University by Stanislas Couix & Jean-Marie Burkhardt. This exploratory research aimed to (1) understand the uses of task model in ergonomics practice and (2) analyze the task of producing a task model. To do this, we conducted 5 semi-directed interviews and 5 experimental observations with ergonomists who use task model in their practice. If you are interested, more information are available in the Master thesis report (only available in french) from Stanislas Couix.
With this survey, we wish to broaden the sample of ergonomists who took part in our first study to an international level.
Knowing why and how ergonomists produce (or do not produce) task models will allow us to help the software design of task model editors. In fact, we are just applying user-centred design methods to a tool for human factors experts & ergonomists' !
