Introduction

The Laboratory of Applied Anthropology has been developing, since its creation in 1962, three complementary activity domains :

• Research relevant to Physiological Ergonomics with two main themes :

=> Biomechanics applied to Ergonomics and sport,
=> Psychophysiology and Chronobiology applied to monotonous situations in transports and risky situations.

• An information system dedicated to the Diffusion of Scientific and Technical Information on Ergonomics :

=> ERGODATA, which include databases about anthropometry, biostereometry, biomechanics and ergonomics and the tool for human body modelling : ERGOMAN.

• University teachings for the second and third cycle, and continuing education about :

=> Ergonomics and human factors,
=> Biomechanics,
=> Stress,
=> Land Transport Medicine.

Composed of a pluridisciplinary team, the L.A.A. is involved in national and international research programs, with strong and active scientific cooperation with foreign university (North America, South East Asia) and permanent collaborations with industrial companies, mainly in transport.
